About The Seafood Lady
The story of The Seafood Lady is all about food, family, and faith.
Born and raised in Florida, founder Nichelle Thurston grew up surrounded by the rich coastal flavors and family gatherings that inspired her love for seafood. Her grandfather, a talented chef, passed down both his culinary skills and his belief that food has the power to bring people together. Those early lessons stayed with Nichelle as life led her to Kentucky, where she quickly realized that authentic Florida-style seafood was hard to find.
When Nichelle and her husband Shawn Thurston began recreating the seafood platters she missed from home — filled with crab, lobster, shrimp, crawfish, and all the fixings — they had no idea it would spark a movement. What started as a few shared plates promoted on social media quickly exploded into a local sensation. The Thurstons launched a food truck that served long lines across Louisville and beyond, fueled by community love and word of mouth.
After being featured on Food Network’s Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives with Chef Guy Fieri, The Seafood Lady gained national attention and expanded from a food truck to two Louisville restaurant locations, eventually opening a full-service dine-in restaurant with bar service.
Today, the journey continues. The Seafood Lady proudly serves fans across the Midwest and the Greater Houston area, traveling city to city on a multi-state food tour, while also catering events and hosting food truck pop-ups.
Rooted in faith, driven by family, and powered by a love for great food — The Seafood Lady is bringing that unmistakable Florida flavor and Southern hospitality to a city near you.
